Radio Host Leads Campaign to Support MPD Amid Controversies

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) — A popular radio commentator in Mobile is teaming up with a local T-shirt company to show support for Mobile County law enforcement.

Sean Sullivan of FM Talk 106.5 and ABC Shirts have created a fundraiser selling t-shirts with logos and phrases backing Mobile police.

Sullivan had the idea of doing a t-shirt fundraiser to let folks know that when you wear one of these shirts, you’re standing behind local law enforcement.

The fundraiser was already underway before recent events brought the Mobile Police Department under some public scrutiny.  Both the shooting of Michael Moore and the gun accusations against Chief Barber have caused a fraction of the community to deal the department some unwanted attention.

Now that the police department is receiving of backlash from the community, the campaign is much more important, according to Sullivan.

“In the wake of the Mike Moore shooting, with a lot of questions there, we want to show that the majority of folks [of Mobile] support law enforcement.  The majority of folks support showing law enforcement that they care, and that’s why we’re doing this,” Sullivan said.

ABC Shirts has designed two t-shirts to sell – one for the Mobile Police Department and the other for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. All profits go either to the Mobile Police fund or the Mobile County Sheriff’s office.

Both shirts say, “we got your 6,” which is a slang way of saying to officers, “we have your back.”

The shirts are available at both ABC Signs and ABC Shirts.  Find out more about prices on ABC Shirts’ Facebook page. You can show your support for the MPD and the MCSO by purchasing these shirts and wearing them proudly. Each shirt is available for $15 each (SM – XL) $16 for a 2XL, $17 for a 3XL – $8 from each departments shirt will be donated to that departments foundation.Shirts will be available starting Wednesday, 6/29 at either abcSigns and abcShirts – 5851 Larue Steiner Road in Theodore (M-F 9a to 5p), Mobile Bay Coin – 2204 Government Street (M-F 9a to 5p, Sat 9a to 3p).We appreciate your support of the MPD and MCSO – We’ve Got your 6Sincerely,Mike Callahan@GMCallahanJrwww.abcShirts.Biz@abcShirtsBiz251.342.3429
