Prichard business owner robbed of cash and wedding ring

Just a couple weeks ago, we brought you the story of Maurice White.  White opened “Big White Wings” in downtown Prichard in hopes of reviving a once bustling Wilson Avenue.

On Tuesday night, White found himself in a situation thousands of business owners, no matter where the store is, deal with.  He was looking at the barrel of a gun.

Normally when it comes to “Big White Wings” the word ‘stupid’ means stupid good.  But owner Maurice White met a pretty stupid criminal on Tuesday night… stupid in the traditional sense.

“We came in from a catering job, and after we brought everything in, guy was waiting on the side of the building,” White said.

White was robbed of $1,600 and his wedding ring.

“Violation,” White said of how the experience felt.  “Totally a violation.”

White said losing that much money is rough, but at least they didn’t take his life.  With no surveillance video and no good look at the suspect, White hopes the thief’s emotions solve this case.

“One thing I feel like will hurt him more… He’ll see the support that I’m getting from the people and then he’ll feel so bad for himself, he’ll tell on himself,” White said.

A YouCaring page has been started so the community can help Maurice White recuperate the money he was robbed of.  You can click HERE to donate.
