UPDATE: Mobile shooting victim was also struck by a car

UPDATE (10:50 a.m.) — The following is a news release from MPD:

On Friday, October 4, 2019 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police responded to the area of Cottage Hill Road and University Boulevard in reference to the report of a male victim laying in the intersection. It was later discovered the victim had been shot and was also struck by a motor vehicle. During the investigation it was also discovered the victim was driving in the area when was shot. The victim then wrecking his vehicle. The driver exited his vehicle and started walking in the roadway before being struck by a vehicle passing. The victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. There are no known suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The investigation is ongoing and once additional information is available an update will be released.

UPDATE (6:40 a.m.) — A 20-year-old man was shot multiple times overnight at the intersection of Cottage Hill Rd. and Hillcrest Rd.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A police investigation overnight shut down two busy intersections in Mobile.

The intersections of Cottage Hill Rd. at Hillcrest Rd. and Cottage Hill Rd. at University Blvd. were both closed around 12:45 a.m. on Friday.

Both intersections have since reopened.
