Wade Wass BayBears

The Los Angeles Angels announced Saturday that catcher Wade Wass has been promoted from the Double-A Mobile BayBears to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Wass, 26, appeared in 72 games for the BayBears over the past two seasons. Last year, the Pensacola, Fla., native and University of Alabama product was a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star and finished the year with 11 home runs. Wass slashed .257/.364/.482 with 24 RBIs. His six May homers were tied for the third-most in the circuit.
After missing majority of the second half of 2017 on the disabled list, Wass returned to Mobile to begin the 2018 season. In 13 games, he had a 3.46 catcher’s ERA and hit a home run on April 25.
In 297 Minor League games, Wass has a .258 batting average with 39 home runs and 136 RBIs. He has logged 1,587 innings at catcher in 188 games with five different Angels affiliates. This is the first time Wass has been promoted to Triple-A in his career. He was originally signed by the Angels as a non-drafted free agent on July 6, 2014.
The BayBears continue a six-game road series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Sunday at 2:05 p.m. CDT.
