Step-father arrested after shooting step-son

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WKRG) - On March 17, 2018, at approximately 9:27 pm, officers with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department responded to 646 Country Club Drive in reference to a male victim who had been shot. 

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Angel Ramon Lopez, was transported to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg and subsequently released a short time later. 

The investigation revealed that Mr. Lopez’s step-father, Thomas Calvin Long, 49 years of age, shot Mr. Lopez during an isolated domestic dispute inside the home.  Mr. Long was arrested for Aggravated Battery with a firearm and later delivered to the Okaloosa County Jail. 

Long is being held without bond.
