Cigarette lighter that looks like a gun leads to school bus scare in Northwest Florida

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WKRG) - We're getting our first look at the gun-shaped cigarette lighter that led to a scare aboard a school bus in Okaloosa County on Tuesday.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday shared a photo of the lighter, which is designed to look like a Glock 18 handgun.

The sheriff's office, along with Fort Walton Beach Police, responded to Beal Parkway and Memorial Parkway at around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday after a student called a parent to say it looked like another student had a gun on a Bruner Middle School bus.

Even though students were never in danger, the sheriff's office wants to emphasize that the caller did the right thing in reporting this to law enforcement.
