New information on Destin hotel standoff suspect

Destin, Fla. (WMBB/WKRG) - UPDATE  3:01 PM:

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's office says the suspect was screaming in the hallway of the hotel. When another guest asked him to quiet down, it got scary. The guest says he looked through his hotel door peephole to find the suspect pointing a gun at it.  That led to a six hour stand-off with 30-year old Nicholas Sachse. It all started around 5:30 a.m and ended around noon.

When the OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded, Sachse retreated to his room and refused to come out according to deputies. The second floor was evacuated. Hours later when police were able to breach the door and get inside Sachse's room the arrested him on a
charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a press release, "during the execution of a search warrant in Sachse’s hotel room, deputies found ammunition, a gun lock, and documentation for the purchase of a Ruger firearm, however the gun was not located."

OCSO also says, "It was the second call-out in two days for the OCSO SRT Team, which also responded to a standoff with an armed murder suspect in Bay County on Monday and assisted in taking that individual
into custody."

UPDATE: The suspect is now in custody, according to the sheriff's office. No injuries have been reported.
