Roller coaster derails in Daytona Beach, drops 2 riders 30 feet, 6 injured

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (CBS/WFLA) - A roller coaster car derailed from its tracks in Daytona Beach, Florida Thursday evening leaving people hanging on for their lives.

 

 

According to the Dayton Beach Fire Department, ten riders total were extricated from the roller coaster. Six of which are being transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Two patients fell to the ground from 34 feet, says the fire department. 

Daytona Beach Fire department tweeted photos and video from the incident saying, "on scene at the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach rescuing riders from a roller coaster car that derailed and are hanging."
