9-year-old convinces town to lift snowball ban

SEVERANCE, Colo. (WFLA/CNN) - People in a small Colorado town can once again have snowball fights, thanks to a young boy.

Nine-year-old Dane Best recently stood in front of the Severance Town Board and convinced them to lift the town's ban on snowball fights. The ban was part of a bigger ordinance that prevents people from throwing stones and other objects.

During his three-minute presentation to the board, Best explained why boys and girls should be able to take part in the classic winter activity.

Members of the board responded with several questions and asked him about safety issues, but his presentation ended up doing the trick.

Best was even given the honor of throwing the town's first legal snowball.
