Mysterious Creature Spotted in Mobile… Ten Sixty Five Music Festival to Return?

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) — A mysterious creature has been spotted around downtown Mobile, leading some to believe that a popular music festival could be returning to Mobile.

The creature “bears” a stark resemblance to the party animal who helped bring the Ten Sixty Five music festival to downtown Mobile last year.

Ten Sixty Five, also referred to as “1065,” was a hastily-planned yet well-received effort that debuted in October 2015 shortly after the cancellation of BayFest.

The BayFest Music Festival, considered a Mobile staple for 20 years, came to an end amidst financial struggles and differing opinions on its future.

Ten Sixty Five, with the help of generous sponsors, would go on to give Mobile the music festival it had abruptly lost. However unlike BayFest, Ten Sixty Five was an enormous hit because it was free.

The headliners weren’t as notable as the ones brought into BayFest, with the likes of Three Days Grace, Sublime with Rome and George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic coming in for 1065.  Yet festival organizers were able to create a fun, loose atmosphere for music lovers who could walk to any of the three stages holding a beer instead of a ticket.

The emergence of the party animal, who is the famous/infamous mascot for Ten Sixty Five, seems to suggest that the festival could be returning for another year.  News 5 couldn’t help but poke fun at the party animal last year shortly after the festival was announced.

News 5 contacted the public relations team behind Ten Sixty Five and they playfully confirmed that the party animal was spotted in the wild, though no announcement has been made yet concerning the festival.  We’re told it is still in the planning stages and organizers are yet to release whether this year’s festival will be free, if it does indeed happen in the Fall.
