Here on the Gulf Coast, we all know we’re the real home of Mardi Gras. But, let’s face it, the rest of the country hasn’t gotten the word. They still think that other city should get all of the credit for Fat Tuesday. But this year, there’s a new way to spread the word across the nation, and WKRG News 5 did its part.
In 2017 WKRG became part of a larger company called Nexstar. Nexstar owns TV stations across the country. On this Fat Tuesday, the News 5 team took advantage of that nationwide network to let folks know in several TV markets what Mardi Gras is like in Mobile, Baldwin County and Northwest Florida.
News 5’s Katarina Luketich and JB Biunno did dozens of “LIVE” shots starting Tuesday morning into Fat Tuesday evening. The LIVE reports from the birthplace of Mardi Gras spanned from North Carolina, to Texas, Utah and cities in between.
We’re happy that we got a chance to help our sister stations and their viewers see Mardi Gras in a whole new light. We’re also proud to help spread the word about the Gulf Coast’s family-friendly, fun and fantastic Fat Tuesday.
