Two arrested after 17 cats, 4 dogs found in hot van in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) - Two people were charged with more than 20 counts of animal cruelty in Mobile after 17 cats and 4 dogs were found in their hot van during a traffic stop in Mobile Saturday afternoon. 

Bruce Stiles, 40, and Tonya Pamplin, 42, were arrested around 2 p.m. after police stopped their van in the area of Theodore Dawes Road and Old Pascagoula Road. 

Police say after Stiles was unable to show a driver's license, police found the van full of the animals.  Police say the van was overrun with roaches and other pests along with a large amount of garbage throughout. 

Animal Control was called to the scene and checked the temperature of the vehicle, detected at 108 degrees. 

One other woman was in the van with Pamplin and Stiles, who was transported to the hospital with health issues, police say.
