Murphy students raise money for DC trip

Mobile, AL (WKRG) - A group of Murphy High School students is hustling to raise money for a trip to DC.  History students are trying to raise enough money to fund a trip to the nation’s capital to take part in the National History Day competition in June.  The teens won competitions at the district and state levels and hope to take it all the way to nationals where they could win scholarships.

"It’s important to me because I worked so hard on my project and just to win at the state level was a huge deal for me, I want the chance to go to nationals and show everyone what I worked on and what I completed," said Murphy High Junior Tithilia Lockett.  The students have had bake sales and other fundraising efforts.  Their next fundraiser is tonight, 5/22/18.  The midtown Foosackly's location is donating a portion of their profits from 5 pm to 8 pm to the travel fund.  If you can’t make it tonight we’ve also got a link to their fundraising page.
