MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) - One person remains hospitalized after being shot at The Grove Apartments on the campus of The University of South Alabama, according to a school spokesperson. Bob Lowry, Director of Communications, says none of the people involved appear to be students at the school.
University of South Alabama police responded to a report of shots fired last night at The Grove apartments, a privately owned and operated student residence facility on the southwest corner of the main USA campus. The report came in at approximately 7:30 p.m. USA Police responded and secured the scene.Shortly after the report of shots fired, a male with a gunshot wound arrived at Providence Hospital. USA Police responded to the hospital, and the subject was later transported to USA Medical Center for treatment.After an investigation, USA Police determined the following:• It appears none of the subjects involved are USA students.• Two male subjects arrived at The Grove last night and were involved in an altercation with a third male subject. Shots were fired during the altercation.• The third male fled the scene and has not been located or identified.• The first two male subjects have been identified. The subject with the gunshot wound remains in USA Medical Center and the second subject has been questioned and released.• Information on the case has been shared with the District Attorney.• USA Police continue to investigate.
