Man arrested on drug charge, shares name of kidnapping suspect

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) - A man who shares the name of a kidnapping suspect was booked into Mobile-Metro Jail overnight on a drug charge.

Daven Tremell Jones Jr., 20, is being held for possession of a controlled substance and seven counts of probation revocation.

On Tuesday, Mobile police identified Daven Tremell Jones, 40, as the suspect in a kidnapping case that forced a school to go on lockdown last month.

Jones is suspected of abducting his girlfriend at gunpoint from Peach Place Inn on Jeff Hamilton Road on April 19. The crime forced nearby O'Rourke Elementary School to be placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Jones fled the area in a blue Dodge Avenger which was later found at the McDonalds at Schillinger Road and Cottage Hill.  The girlfriend has also been located.

News 5 has contacted Mobile Police to find out if the arrest of the younger Jones is connected to the kidnapping case.
