Crews work to restore power to 2,100 customers in Grand Bay

GRAND BAY, Ala. (WKRG) - UPDATE Saturday, May 19 10:00 p.m.

According to Alabama Power, crews are working to restore power to about 2,100 customers in the Grand Bay area after a car hit a pole.

Witnesses from inside a Valero on Highway 188 in Grand Bay say "the transformers behind the gas station blew up." According to a deputy directing traffic in the area, a downed power line went across the railroad tracks causing a fire. 

Video sent to us from witnesses shows power inside the convince store turning on and off. When the witness goes outside you can see an explosion. 

Aerial video shows flames and smoke. 

According to Mobile County Sheriff's Office traffic is being redirected due to the downed power line.
