On Tuesday, the Mobile City Council approved a contract for a bike sharing service to begin operations inside the city.

LimeBike is a program where users can rent bikes using their phone and make payments directly from the app.  The initial rollout will include 500 bikes around the city, primarily on the South Alabama campus. The contract was unanimously approved.

At the council meeting Tuesday, one councilman expressed safety concerns on where the bikes will be placed in relation to safety measures currently in place in the city.
