CHILTON Co., Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities are conducting a manhunt in search of two suspects who fired shots and led police on a chase early Friday morning.

Two white male suspects believed to be in their 20s led both the Jemison Police Department and the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on a chase after they were spotted throwing objects off of the CR 51 bridge, according to Assistant Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield.

Chief Mayfield tells CBS 42 the chase began around 1:45 a.m. The suspects were driving a car that was reported stolen out of Bibb County two weeks ago. The suspects ditched the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. K9 units tracked them near the Shelby County line.

Authorities confirm that the suspects did fire shots while fleeing on foot. It is not clear at this time if they fired shots at law enforcement or if they fired into the air.

Mayfield also tells CBS 42 one of the suspects is missing a shoe.

CBS 42 crews are headed to the scene of the search. Check back for updates on this developing story.
