Police say a Mobile man was shot and killed by SWAT on Wednesday night after firing at officers in a standoff that began with a reported domestic dispute.

Around 11:13pm on Wednesday, Mobile police responded to the home of 41-year-old Donald Fulton for a domestic-related call. Police say upon arriving on scene, Fulton forced family members out of the home at gunpoint and retreated back inside the residence, starting the standoff.

Fulton, threatened to kill himself, investigators said. SWAT was called to the scene and officers set up perimeter around the house with a hostage negotiator able to calm Fulton to where he was no longer armed.

Officers made entry into the residence, however police say Fulton then armed himself again and fired shots at the officers. Officers returned fire causing the death of Fulton.

No family members were harmed in the incident.

Police have scheduled a 1:00pm press conference to address more specifics.
