Police release identities of victims in Bay Minette shooting

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) - UPDATE (3/6) -- On Monday, March 5, 2018, at approximately 7:56 PM, Officers responded to a call of shots fired and someone shot at 210 East Hickory Street, Bay Minette, Alabama.

Upon officer’s arrival, a male subject was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and leg. He has been identified as Anthony J Williams. Williams was transported by ambulance to USA Medical Center in Mobile. Williams’ status is serious but stable condition.

While the officers were securing the scene, they received an additional call from North Baldwin Infirmary. Hospital staff advised that they had a female subject to come in by POV with a gunshot wound to the chest. The female is identified as Latasha Tiane Mims. Mims was later transferred to USA Medical as well. Her condition is listed as stable.

The Bay Minette Police Department have two suspects possibly but have not positively confirmed if the individuals are responsible for the shooting. When that information is confirmed we will release that to the public.

A family member of the victims who wishes to not be identified said this happened at her father's house.

"My daddy was sitting on the sofa," she said. "He could've got shot. My daddy's sick. Everybody around here knows my daddy's disabled and sick and they should have never brought it to my daddy's house period."

She says she considers the men many people say did it to be family so she is surprised.

"I consider them family so it really just blows me for them to come up and start shooting like that."

Two people from Bay Minette were transported to USA Medical Center after being shot on East Hickory Street Monday night. 

On Monday 7:56 p.m., officers from the Bay Minette Police Department responded to a call of shots fired and someone shot at 210 East Hickory Street.

Upon officer's arrival, a man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and leg, police said.

The man was taken to USA Medical Center by ambulance, according to Bay Minette Police. 

Shortly after, a female arrived at North Baldwin Infirmary with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police. She was transported by Life Flight to USA Medical Center. 

Their condition is unknown at this time Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert said. 

The chief also says this shooting is not connected with the shooting/beating over the weekend. They are two separate incidents.
