5th Annual News 5 Dog Days of Summer Blood Drive a success

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) - The goal was 85 pints of blood to beat last year's 84 pints.

We were close, but didn't quite hit it.

Our annual 'Dog Days of Summer Blood Drive' collected 81 pints of blood this year. Each pint can help save three lives.

It's held in conjunction with Life South Community Blood Centers. All of the blood goes to people locally here on the Gulf Coast.

The drive has been held each summer for the last five years.

Those with Life South Community Blood Centers say it's critical to promote blood donations in the summer, since many people are on vacation, busy with their kids or just spending time outdoors.

However, the need for blood never goes away.

If you missed Wednesday's drive, don't worry, you can donate blood seven days a week with Life South Community Blood Centers.

From all of us here at News 5, thank you for donating to help save local lives!
