UPDATE (10:45 a.m.) – The Gulf Shores Police Department released the name of the man, along with a picture, wanted for a domestic violence incident on Old Plash Island Road Thursday night.
39-year-old Kelly Thomas had an argument with a woman he had been dating and police say during the argument he grabbed the woman’s throat and fired a weapon inside the home.
The woman ran away from the home and called the police.
Law enforcement responded to the home on Old Plash Island Road, but did not locate Thomas when they went inside. However, they did find the weapon inside the home, which is believed to be the gun used in the domestic violence incident.
Thomas has a warrant for his arrest on a charge of Domestic Violence by Strangulation which is Class B felony and additional charges could be filed in the future.
Gulf Shores Police say there is no imminent danger to the community, and the search was called off around 7:45 a.m. Friday.

UPDATE (8:10 a.m.) – The search for a suspected wanted in a domestic violence incident has been called off. However, the suspect is still at large. Gulf Shores Police received a call about a domestic violence situation in which shots were fired before midnight. The victim told police the suspect fled. Police searched for the suspect, who police say is a felon, until 7:45 this morning. Police are expected to release the name of the suspect later this morning. Police say there is imminent danger to the community.
UPDATE (7:45 a.m.) – The road block on Old Plash Island Road has been removed. The road is now open. Officers have pulled out of the neighborhood. We’re waiting to hear back from Gulf Shores Police regarding whether the search has officials been called off.
Residents who live off Old Plash Island Road say they heard a single gunshot around 4:30 in the morning.
UPDATE: (6:05 a.m.) – A spokesman for the City of Gulf Shores says officers were dispatched to the neighborhood off Old Plash Island Road for a domestic call in which shots were fired. Officers have been searching for a suspect for almost four hours. At this time it is unclear if anyone was injured.
UPDATE: (5:23 a.m.) – Gulf Shores police, Orange beach Police, Foley police and Baldwin County sheriff’s deputies are involved.
GULF SHORES, AL (WKRG) – Gulf Shores Police have blocked off Old Plash Island Road this morning, but they haven’t explained why.
News 5 received a call from a concerned viewer saying access to her neighborhood was blocked and police were not letting cars in or out.
