George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic to Headline MoonPie Drop on New Year’s Eve

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) — For the tenth annual MoonPie Drop to ring in the New Year in downtown Mobile, city leaders are bringing a funky group back to town.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic is headlining the MoonPie Drop concert performance on New Year’s Eve, councilman Fred Richardson announced on Tuesday.

George Clinton previously played in Mobile two years ago in the inaugural “Ten Sixty Five” music festival.  The funk group had signed to play at Bayfest, but it was ultimately cancelled, paving the way for their performance at “Ten Sixty Five.”

The concert stage will be in downtown Mobile near the MoonPie drop location, where 50,000 to 60,000 people are expected to ring-in the new year.
