FSU Student Athletes volunteer in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) — Florida State University athletes volunteered in Panama City on Sunday afternoon.

About 40 student athletes came from Tallahassee to clean up downtown.

FSU Swimmer, Patrick Butkovich, came up for the idea to have a volunteer day when he saw the devastation firsthand in November.

I started volunteering with the Red Cross after the storm, and they actually sent me out here over Thanksgiving break and that was kinda when I realized that something needed to happen, said Butkovich.

Several athletes are from Panama City, and they said it meant a lot to have their teammates come out and help clean the place they call home.
