A deputy’s trip to the gas station ended with a drug suspect behind bars in Okaloosa County on Monday.

The deputy was pumping gas at a convenience store on Beal Parkway when he spotted a man asleep behind the wheel at the pump across from him with the engine running.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy got the man to wake up and roll down the window. When he asked him what was going on, the man replied “bare naked” and some other mumblings.

While the deputy was talking to the man, identified as 43-year-old Chester Walker, an OCSO K9 sniffed the vehicle.

Deputies say that led them to find a black case in Walker’s left pants pocket with heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and other drugs.

The sheriff’s office says Walker told the deputy the pants were not his.

Walker is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
