DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG)  — The Daphne City Council voted against proceeding with Phase II of the municipal school feasibility study Monday evening. This was in an effort to continue the city’s quest to form its own independent school.

The final vote was 5 to 2.

The Baldwin County Public School System released a statement Monday evening saying:

“Just as we respected the study by Daphne, we respect the decision by the City of Daphne to stay with the Baldwin County Public School System. Their study identified the quality schools within our area and the strengths of staying together.

We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Daphne as we continue to build a better education system for Baldwin County while respecting the taxpayers who fund it.”
