Convicted robber escapes from Baldwin County job site

UPDATE (9:40 a.m.) – According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, the inmate who escaped from the Loxley Work Release Center has been recaptured.

39-year-old Demetricus Curry was arrested Wednesday night in Robertsdale at 11 p.m.

Curry now faces charges for his escape, in addition to the 20-year sentence for a third-degree robbery conviction.

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) – An inmate convicted of robbery escaped from his job location in Baldwin County.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, 39-year-old Demetricus V. Curry left his job site at Orange Beach on Wednesday afternoon.

Curry was more than three years into his 20-year sentence for a third-degree robbery charge in Mobile. He was incarcerated at the Loxley Work Release Center.
