News 5 has learned the man wanted for a carjacking on Sunday in Mobile has been caught after a police chase through Prichard.
Tony Lavell Witherspoon, 45-years-old, was the man behind the wheel of the car that wound up at the crash scene at Crash Highway and MLK Drive in Prichard on Tuesday afternoon. News 5 was first told the crash was the result of a police chase, though at the time it was unclear why the chase occurred.
We were later told the driver of the chased vehicle was Witherspoon, who has been wanted for a carjacking in Mobile.
Witherspoon is accused of taking a woman’s car keys by force and driving off in her vehicle on Conti Street on Sunday.

Witherspoon is also wanted for robbery in Baldwin County.
