BREAKING: Three-Alarm Apartment Fire In West Mobile

News

UPDATE 5:05 AM Monday, April 24th, 2017

MFRD returns to the apartment complex at about five this morning for some follow-up.  They were checking out some chirping smoke alarms.

Spokesman Steve Huffman with Mobile Fire and Rescue held a brief press conference earlier this evening. He stated there were no injuries and they were able to evacuate everyone including pets. The cause of the fire is unknown and they will begin the investigation after the fire and hotspots have been completely put out. He also said they believe wind played a major factor in how quickly the fire spread from one building to the other.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Crews are on the scene of a three-alarm fire at Timber Ridge Apartments on Wall Street in West Mobile. According to News 5’s J.B. Biunno and Emily DeVoe, who are on the scene reporting LIVE on Facebook, two buildings are on fire right now. Buildings 8 and 9 are suffering heavy damage on the rear. Several Mobile Fire crews are there, ladder trucks and more are working to put out the fires. There is no word yet on the cause of the fire and no word on any injuries at this point. Heavy smoke continued to bellow from the buildings after 5:30 PM Sunday as the firefight continued.
