UPDATE (5:35 a.m.) Steve Huffman with Mobile Fire and Rescue tells News 5 the building was vacant and no one was injured.

The fire caused $40,000 in damage. An investigation is being conducted on the cause of the fire.

UPDATE (4:25 a.m.) Fire crews have extinguished the fire at a home on Woodlawn Drive East.  Firefighters at the scene tell News 5 no one was inside and the home appears to have been abandoned.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) Mobile Fire Rescue crews are at the scene of an early morning house fire on Woodlawn Drive East.

The fire started around 3:15 a.m.
