In town for two hours, Bill Clinton pulled in an estimated 200 thousand dollars for his wife’s presidential bid.
“He spoke for about 45 minutes and talked about the campaign and what’s happening in the world now and of course why we need to elect his wife, Hillary Clinton.”
Fifty guests paid as much as 10 thousand dollars to hear the former president speak. “Most of them were friends, people I know, people who have been to my house before. Probably half of them had met the president before.”
Pat Edington and her husband Robert hosted the event at their house on Whiting Court. Neighbors crowded the driveway entrance to catch a glimpse and a photo. “He was smiling. He waved at us and right when he got out of the car he turned and said ‘How are you, folks?’ It was definitely a cool experience,” says Allen Yazdi.
Not everyone was impressed. Next door to the Edington’s, a Trump supporter made sure the former president knew who he supported with four Donald Trump signs prominently displayed along the narrow street.
With a quick thumbs up and a wave, he was gone. But not before Edington made a request for another Clinton visit. “Oh absolutely. I told the president, send Hillary now. We can do it.”
The media was not given access to Mr. Clinton to ask any questions but we’re told he did not address his meeting with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch during the visit.
