Pensacola man arrested after fleeing from police in 2 counties

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) - A man is behind bars in Baldwin County after leading police on a chase across the state line.

The suspect, Mickey McDonald Jr., was transported from the Escambia County Jail in Florida to the Orange Beach Police Department.

News 5 was the only television station there as he arrived saying, "I'm innocent."

"One of our officers tried to make a traffic stop on this individual. He failed to do so by McDonald fleeing from the officer, making contact with the officer's vehicle, then pursuing the individual back toward Florida," Lieutenant Carl Bradley said.

Dashcam video showed the dark green Honda Civic on Perdido Beach Boulevard the morning of January 20. The Orange Beach officer tried to pull him over for speeding but he cut in front of the patrol car, damaged the front end of the officer's car, and headed east.

"We relayed the information to Escambia County officials and they branched out and went to several addresses we had for Mr. McDonald and they subsequently made an arrest," Lt. Bradley said.

When Escambia County deputies went to arrest him, he tried to run from them too, racking up more charges. Now in Baldwin County, he's charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance which was ecstasy. He's also charged with possession of marijuana and half a dozen traffic offenses.

He is in Orange Beach and will be transported to the Baldwin County Jail in Bay Minette as he waits to go before a judge.
