Georgia law enforcement officials arrested in Gulf Shores, charged with marijuana possession

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WJBF) - NewsChannel 6, our sister station in Augusta, Georgia, has confirmed that two local law enforcement officials were arrested in Gulf Shores over the weekend—charged with marijuana possession.

Chief Deputy Marcus Green and Lead Investigator Marcus Conrad Richards with the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office were picked up Saturday night by the Gulf Shores Police Department.

According to a statement by the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office, both men were suspended pending further investigation.

Chief Deputy Green has since resigned his position.  Lead Investigator Richards, who is also the son of Taliaferro County Sheriff Marc Richards, has also resigned his position. 

Sheriff Richards has not responded to requests for comment on the arrest of his son.
