DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) -- Michelle Tesch had never met Marlin Rodriguez. Now, he has one of her kidneys.
Tesch lives in Daphne. Rodriguez lives in Thibodaux, La. The connection started in Ohio.
That's where Tesch met befriended a woman named Sonja at an Avon conference. They became friends on Facebook, and that's where Tesch saw the post about Rodriguez needing a kidney.
After some tests, Tesch ended up being a match.
"And I was like oh my gosh I'm actually going to save a life," she said.
Previously, Tesch had actually tried to donate a kidney to two other people, but the logistics didn't pan out properly.
That's why she calls this situation "meant to be."
And when she and Rodriguez met for the first time, they both say they instantly felt like family.
"Really truly feel like this whole process was meant to be. It was totally meant to be," said Tesch.
