Build-A-Bear mania strikes Eastern Shore Center

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WKRG) - Most parents would do anything to make their kids happy but standing in long lines for hours and hours for a stuffed toy animal maybe going above and beyond as Build A Bear mania sweeps across the country including Baldwin County.

Parents and kids, braving the heat of an Alabama July for hours. The line wrapping through part of the Eastern Shore Center in the shape of a horseshoe.

All for a chance to Build-A-Bear.  The cost, whatever the age of the child.

"It was really hot outside but we did manage to come inside and it felt really good," said 11-year-old Gracie D'Olive.

While stores across the country were overwhelmed by the demand and closed early, "Get your wife, get your kids, they taking all the build a bears up in here."

The Eastern Shore Center Build-A-Bear vowed to stay open as long as supplies last.  "We got a unicorn, we got a kitty kat and an Elsa," said Heather Walther.  A victory of sorts, worthy of a little celebration.  "We survived Build-A-Bear 2018.

Due to the long lines, guests had to be turned away. In response, Build-A-Bear offered vouchers to those in line they had to turn away. Those vouchers will be honored through August 31. For more info, click here.
