FOLEY, AL- Emergency medical service just got better — and faster — in Baldwin County.

Medstar EMS unveiled its latest, life-saving tool to the public Monday: an air ambulance.

The $3 million medical chopper is called Medstar Air Care 1. The machine can fly at speeds up to 150 miles per hour and can get to any point in Baldwin County from its base in 14 minutes or less.

Medstar Air Care 1 will be stationed at the Stapleton VFD.

Up until now, medical choppers had to be called in from Mobile or Pensacola when needed.
