ATLANTA, Ga. (WIAT) – Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and Tiger players took the podium on the final day of SEC Media Days in Atlanta. CBS 42 Sports Simone Eli asked Malzahn about the challenge of playing both rivalry games on the road this season; Georgia – November 10th, Alabama – November 24th.
Malzahn said he’d like to see changes to the schedule to create more fairness in the league.
“When you look in the offseason at your big picture schedule, obviously there’s some strategy that goes with it. Then when you go on the road, any team in our league you’ve got to look at a little bit different. But when it happen to be our two rivals, and you play them back to back that’s a huge challenge, but it is what it is. You’ve got to figure out a way for your team to overcome that and that’s a huge challenge. No doubt both of those teams will be in it towards the end like they were, they both happen to be our rivals. Like I’ve said before, I think it’d be great if we could split those up, I think when you look at fariness and euaity across the league, nobody else has to do it, but it’s what we’ve been given and we have to find a way to overcome it.”
