Atlantic disturbance could become Tropical Storm Oscar

More WFLA Tracking the Tropics

There is a tropical disturbance in the central Atlantic. Right now, it’s just a cluster of clouds and a broad area of low pressure that is being investigated.

It will likely develop circulation as it drifts northward and then westward in the open ocean.

If it does form into a tropical or subtropical tropical storm, the next name on the list is Oscar. Long range outlooks do not show any signs of it coming to the United States.

There have been 14 named storms this year in the Atlantic, with half of them becoming hurricanes. Hurricane season runs through the end of November so stay updated with your WKRG weather app.
