Major John Jacobson was a quartermaster officer in Gen. George Patton’s Third Army. He followed the General through France to Germany, making sure supplies were there when needed.
During the Mardi Gras season this year, Major Jacobson is serving again, bringing attention to veterans by parading. He was featured along with several other veterans during Daphne and Fairhope parades this past weekend. He will also parade on Joe Cain Day.
Jacobson has photos of him standing next to General Patton, as well as the General attending an event at the Quartermaster Officers School that Jacobson helped establish for the Army. He says his extended life at 105 years old just gives him that much more of an opportunity to serve.
