WATCH: Video shows man save squirrel with CPR

MINNEAPOLIS (WFLA) – Minnesota police body cameras captured the moment a Good Samaritan somehow managed to revive a squirrel he had hit with his car using CPR, WCCO reports.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department posted a video on Facebook Thursday that shows officers roll up on a young man who was bent down on the side of the road administering CPR to a squirrel.

“Is he giving it CPR?” an officer is heard saying. “I think it is.”

The man told officers the squirrel ran out in front of him and he tried to swerve out of the way, but he ended up hitting the animal with his car. Officers later determined the squirrel was not run over by any tires.

Following an officer’s instructions, the man flipped the squirrel over, then moments later, the critter jumped to life and scurried away.

“There he goes!” an officer is heard shouting.

“You saved his life, dude!”

“We’ll put you in for a life saving award,” one of the officers says.

Then the officers high-fived.

The video already has thousands of views. The agency said it was using the incident to remind the public to bring wounded wildlife to a wildlife rehabilitation center.
