More than 6 million pounds of beef recalled after 50+ salmonella cases

National

(CNN) — Beef processor JBS Tolleson says it is pulling 6.5 million pounds of “various raw, non-intact beef products.” The USDA’s Food and Safety inspection service announced the recall on Thursday. The beef was sold nationwide under brand names including Walmart, Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Showcase, Showcase-Walmart, and JBS Generic.

They affected units were packaged between July 26th and September 7th with the USDA inspection mark “EST267.” The recall is connected to 57 cases of salmonella illnesses reported across 16 states. Health officials identified JBS as the common supplier of the raw ground beef it says is a “probable source” of the illnesses.
