VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man with a sign that reads “It’s ok to be white” has appeared near four schools across Virginia Beach, according to school officials.

The man first got attention Monday morning after he was seen carrying the sign outside of Plaza Middle School.

Lauren Nolasco with Virginia Beach City Public Schools said the man was spotted with the sign outside of Green Run High School on Monday.

He was also seen with the sign near Bayside middle and high schools Tuesday morning. The man was off school property in each case and does not represent the schools in any way, Nolasco said.

Virginia Beach police said they have spoken to the man. He is not doing anything criminal, but police said they are monitoring the situation.
