CALIFORNIA (CNN) — Federal officials seized more than 220 pounds of cocaine in California. It happened last month during two separate busts in Port Hueneme, California – a deepwater port in Ventura County.
On January 22nd, officials discovered more than 200 pounds of the drug aboard a refrigerated produce cargo vessel arriving from Ecuador.
80 bundles of cocaine were hidden in the ship’s floor-boards. A week later, seven bundles weighing a total of 17.5 pounds were found in a similar ship arriving from Guatemala. They were also hidden in floor-boards.
Officials say it’s the largest drug seizure at the port in a quarter century.
