(CBS/WKRG) — Halloween can conjure up images of cemeteries and skeletons, but traditional graveyards may one day be a thing of the past. Embalming and cremation are expensive and bad for the environment, and cities are running out of places to bury remains.
Researchers at Columbia University are working in a DeathLab to solve the dilemma. They have come up with an idea for a futuristic final resting place.
Coming up tonight on News 5 at 5 p.m. WKRG’s Jessica Taloney will show you how the DeathLab hopes to turn remains into glowing orbs of light and explain what they plan to do with that light.
