CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP/WNCN) – A man has died after a shooting at a restaurant parking lot near the South Carolina coast.
Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis told news outlets the shooting happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Another officer said the victim was a 32-year-old man whose name has not been released yet.
Lieutenant Command Duty Officer Patrick McLaughlin said the man was walking from a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant to his car with his children when he was shot.
WCBD reported that the slain man suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The man’s body was lying in the parking lot next to a white car that also had at least one bullet hole.
There were at least 13 small evidence markers visible in the parking lot near the victim.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1600 block of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.
McLaughlin said the shooting did not appear to be a random event. No other injuries were reported.
No arrests have been reported.
