Comcast says its customers may be experiencing problems due to a nationwide service outage Friday.
“One of Comcast’s large backbone network partners had a fiber cut that we believe is also impacting other providers,” the company said in a statement. “It is currently affecting our business and residential internet, video and voice customers. We apologize and are working to get services restored as soon as possible.”
According to the website downdetector.com, which crowdsources outage reports, Comcast has seen spikes in reported outages since 12 p.m. Friday. Other service providers, such as Spectrum and various other websites, including Facebook, Amazon, Google and Netflix have also seen spikes in reported outages over the last 24 hours.
