BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Bay Minette Police Department was notified on Friday afternoon October 5, 2018 of an individual who may have approached students at the car rider line at the Bay Minette Elementary/Intermediate School. It was reported that an individual waiting in the car rider line, possibly waiting to pick up a student from the school, left the vehicle and approached students who were transitioning from break back to their classroom.

School Resource Officers and Patrol Officers have investigated this incident. Based on the statements provided by students and faculty, the Police Department has determined that none of the students were in any danger at any time. There is no evidence to support the claim of an attempted abduction at this time.

The Bay Minette Police Department and School Administrators at the Bay Minette Elementary School have taken security measures to ensure that an incident of this nature will not have the ability to occur in the future.
