Actor Ken Berry, star of ‘Mamas Family’ and ‘F-Troop’, dead at 85

(WCMH) — Ken Berry, who starred in “F-Troop” and “Mama’s Family,” died Saturday.

He was 85.

His former wife, actress Jackie Joseph-Lawrence, announced Berry’s death on Facebook. “With very deep sorrow, I must inform friends of Ken Berry that he died a short time ago.” 

Berry played Vinton Harper on “Mama’s Family” in the 1980s.

He was cast as Sam Jones, a widowed farmer, on “The Andy Griffith Show” and then went on star in the spin-off “Mayberry R.F.D.”

Berry also played Capt. Wilton Parmenter on the mid-1960s Western sitcom “F-Troop.”
