UPDATE: New details in shooting on I-10

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) —

Update 11:55 am November 26th

The following is a press release from Mobile Police:

On Sunday, November 15, 2018 at approximately 8:30 p.m. police responded to University Hospital in reference to a 9-year-old female that was shot. The victim was a passenger in her mother’s vehicle when a known male subject shot into the vehicle. The 9-year-old was struck as the subject continued to shoot into the vehicle. The victim injuries were no-life threating. The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE 9:22 p.m. November 25, 2018

Mobile Fire-Rescue tells News 5 a reported 9-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder. The girl was transported to University Hospital in an unknown condition. News 5 is working to find out more information.

Alabama Department of Transportation tweeted Sunday night there is an incident on I-10 eastbound near the Virginia Street exit.

They say expect major delays. According to a traffic map, there is police activity blocking traffic in the left shoulder and lane. 

News 5 is heading to the scene.
