Mobile Police say they have obtained a warrant for the Clark-Shaw Magnet student involved in the social media threat posted over the weekend.
Police also say the student does not pose a threat to the community.
Update Sunday, January 13th
Rena Philips with MCPSS says, “they have identified the child making the threat. They are working with Mobile Police on the next course of action. He will not be in school this week.” She says, “No threat at this school currently exists.”
Due to the age of his name has not been released.
Rena says they want to thank parents and others for reporting these threats to them directly. They also want to thank MPD for their assistance. The school systems want to remind all kids and parents that threats like these are investigated by Mobile Police, Sheriff’s office, and the FBI. Even if the threats are a joke, they will result in punishment including the possibility of going to jail.
Mobile County Public School System and Mobile Police Department are investigating a social media school threat.
The threat was allegedly posted on Instagram by a student at Clark Shaw Middle School. The threat has since been shared on social media. Mobile County Public School System was alerted Sunday morning of the threat and immediately took action to investigate.
